Whilst accommodation in this pretty city can cost an arm and a leg, good quality food can be found at a reasonable price if you're on a tight budget.
After over 35 hours in transit and almost breaking a tooth on a sausage roll costing £4.50 our good friends told us of Sainsburys. The best way to describe it is like a Woolworths but better in terms of food you can eat on the run and they are on every block. If you are on a budget its a great lunch and even early dinner option if you're happy to forego a warm meal on a chilly day.
For £3 you can select a gourmet sandwich, a snack like chips or fruit and a juice' water or soft drink. I don't think you can even purchase a ham sandwich in Sydney for that price so we thought we had hit jackpot after discovering this beauty.
Several other chains have options like this including Boots (a chemist style shop), co-op and Tesco.
